Abridged Commentary (Part 0 – 14)

This is one of our favourite issues. Great poetry, great art. There’s a lot of discussion about the balance between art and politics/activism at the moment. Abridged is, amongst many other things, a political animal. Our politics are pretty obvious and often to the fore but not in a way that amounts to flag making or flag waving. We recognise that much that amounts to politics and political protest these days is performative. The danger in this is that the performance becomes the cause. This issue, in its own subtle way critiques the viciousness of our contemporary societies but in a way that we hope worms itself into your consciousness and stays there rather momently deafens then fades.
